iphone 3G won't turn on/charge?!?!?! PLEASE HELP!!!

For some reason my iphone 3g is stuck on the screen where there is a picture of a battery bar with minimal red level, with a lightning bolt symbol underneath it.


It won't charge on the wall charger nor the computer, its been stuck on that screen all day.
It is unlocked/jailbroken, so I'm trying to do anything BUT restore it, because I don't want it to lock back up again.
Plus, I don't want all of my things to erase.
please help me, I need this fixed fast!!

Try a reset. Hold down the HOME, bottom button, and the SLEEP, top button, for about 10 seconds until the Apple icon appears, then release buttons. Allow it to reboot, it may take a few minutes, don't panic like I did, wait for it to reboot. Cures many weird problems on iOS devices.

Have you tried a different cable? Try looking with a flashlight at the cable ends and the iPhone connector for dirt or lint lodged inside. If you find some, try to blow it out or pick it out, very, very carefully, with some very small tweezers or a pin, don't bend any pins! And be sure it's not plugged in while cleaning it out.
