Is there a list of jailbreak apps and tweaks that currently work for the tethered jailbreak. Most of the ones I have downloaded have crashed or not compatible yet.

Tethered or untethered doesn't matter. It's just a matter of iOS. Google "Cydia app list 2012" and choose the first link. (can't post external links). That list consists of some of the more popular tweaks, and in the chart, there will be 3 columns, for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. And it'll show the '6' symbol where applicable, meaning it's compatible with iOS 6. And there should be an iOS check or warning for most Cydia apps/tweaks in Cydia

A lot of tweaks are starting to be compatible for iOS 6 now. Like willerz2 said, if its not compatible, you will get a warning or some sort. But I only came across a few, not many that wasn't compatible. That list may be a little out dated now. Some stuff ppl will have to test out them shelves to see what's compatible. I installed a few tweaks from Cydia that work perfectly on iOS 6 without any issues that was for iOS 5+.

Even tho iOS 6 is a tethered jailbreak & some tweaks may not work "yet" i think it's still worth the upgrade...

Also read the descriptions. 9 out of 10 tweaks/apps from Cydia will specify a specific device and/or iOS.
