iphone 4 problem. itunes says the phone is faulty and can't be activated

hi all ,
i'm new here so hello to everyone,
I have just brought off ebay a faulty iphone 4, I would like to fix it and use it, I have put it in dfu mode and restored it through itunes with the latested firmware , the problem I have is that itunes says it may be faulty and I should take it to an apple store , I don't know how to access any of the phones details so if anyone knows how to help me out it will be great .

I think that would be the logic board problem. Something or everything is fried from water damage. Check the LCI (liquid contact indicators) in the link below for the iPhone 4. If you can, use a pentalobe screwdriver and open it up to see. Sometimes the LCI may or may not trigger.

hi,
no sign of water damage, both indicating white, also the phone powers up fine you can get to the point where you select the country then the connect to itunes comes up, i wonder if someone has tried to jailbreak it then tried to restore it with itunes????

Huh. See if you can get your hands on a SIM for the original carrier for the iPhone. Put it in, and see if you can set up the phone. Or, plug your iPhone into your computer, and run RedSn0w as administrator. On the main screen, under Extras (not clicking it, as in literally under it) it should say iPhone 4 or iPhone3,1/iPhone3,2.
