iPhone 4 volume problem

This may have been answered before but I can't find a thread on it.

My daughter's iPhone volume is very quiet and the she is unable to increase it. When I call her, she can hardly hear me. Impossible if in a noisy environment. She has tried everything to get the volume controls to respond properly - resyncing with her Macbook, turning the phone on/off, changing settings. She can only hear anything if she connects her headphones. The local Apple shop weren't interested. Any ideas?

Sounds like a hardware problem. Look at replacing the buttons

I think you're right. My daughter is apparently due for an upgrade later this month, so she is opting to wait for the iPhone 5, rather than continue messing about with her current phone. Thanks for your reply. Appreciated.
