iPhone 4s won't change twitter sound

I've had this problem for months. At some point i changed my Twitter notification sound to "TWEET". Now I can't change it to anything else. If I set it to another sound, or even set it to NONE, I still get the "tweet' sound whenever a Twitter message comes in. Just upgraded to ios6, hoping that would fix it, but it did not.

Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know how the heck I can fix this?

Just got off the phone with Apple support, who suggested the following:
1. Hard Reset - did not work
2. Reset all settings- did not work
3. FULL restore - have yet to try this.

While i see this problem and similar problems reported on various forums, including apples own support forum, they don't seem to have a clue on how to fix it.
