IPhone 5 Charging Confusion!

So basically lets just get straight into the problem.
I have a IPhone 5 Silver, and i don't understand what's wrong with my phone.
So basically a few months ago i ordered a portable charger by "noza tec". Everything was going pretty well, up until last week when i noticed something odd.

my phone doesn't charge through a normal charger cable. But if i put my charger cable and charge my battery back and then charge my phone with the portable charge while the portable charge is getting charged. The phone charges? But with just the normal cable charger it does not charge?

Are you using a standard Apple charger - the one that was supplied with the iPhone?

It may be that the actual charging port on the the iPhone is faulty.

Ok let's get straight in it, do a search on here for how to clean the charging port. That might help

How old is the charging cord? They do become defective depending on use.

I'm guessing you bought your iPhone 5 a while back so the charging cable could well have broken. Check for signs of the wires having frayed under the white outer tube at either end.

You could probably fix that with the shrink tubing used to protect splices in electrical wires.
