According to BGR, it would seem that some iPhone 5 owners are experience problems with unusual light leakage from their new phones, while other owners have reported that their new iPhone 5s have been arriving scratched and scuffed. As far as the light leak issue is concerned, BGR reports that MacRumors forum member Leotno has posted about how some white iPhone 5 models have light leakage between the display and the aluminium antenna. BGR says that it has found the problem on one of its own iPhone 5s, which is only noticeable when the phone is used in dark conditions or in low light. Apparently Apple has even been replacing some models, and the replacements in turn have also exhibited the issue.

Meanwhile, BGR says that MacRumors forum members have also been posting in their droves about what it is calling “Scuffgate,” whereby they have reported that their iPhone 5s have been arriving with scratches and scuff marks out of the box. The thread runs for over 100 pages, and finds that it tends to be more the black models that are affected than the white ones. BGR says that one of its black iPhone 5s did indeed have a tiny chip on the bottom of the antenna. So far Apple has not commented publicly on either issue.
