i sometimes get that,i just turn my phone off and on and if that doesn't work a hard reset brings it back,or try resetting your network settings.

Was your phone a locked phone that you had unlocked and the unlock was lost with the update?

I thought the iPhone 5 was already unlocked?

It depends on where you're located, some providers supply you with factory unlocked phones and some don't.

Just turn off once and after that do turn on. It may be possible to start work again.

I have the same problem, had my iphone 5 on at&t, factory unlocked and upgrade to 6.1.3, now can't use with any carrier, all i see it's No Service... tried everything already..

Did you try replacing the SIM card?
