I had nfc in my last two phones. Didn't use it once. I'm making the jump back to apple tomorrow from the Samsung S4. Hope I'm not disappointed.

I doubt you will be. AirDrop does away with the retarded phone bump. I read this story in several forms and it only has one anonymous source. Any pay service Apple uses will be via Airdrop technology. So few retailers are set up for NFC Apple can make a new market out of payment device sales.
