iphone 6 screen goes black when using speaker phone

When I am having a phone conversation with my iphone 6 on speaker and the phone is laying flat on my desk, I sometimes look down to see that the screen has gone black.

If I push the home button, the screen will come back on, but not showing the call. I have to tap the green bar at the top to return to the "call screen".

Does anyone know a solution for this?

The only thing you can do is turn the Auto Lock timing to Never. You will find the setting under Display and Brightness.

Tap the screen instead of the home button, it may just be super dimmed out. My 6S plus does it all the time, if that's all it is tapping the screen brings up the phone app like normal
