CNBC reports that Apple’s supply chain in Taiwan is gearing up for production of the iPhone 7 with a round of mass hirings. On Foxconn’s website for its factory in Zhengzhou, China, a job advertisement is asking for “a large number of ordinary workers” for immediate start.
Economic News Daily in Taiwan said that both Foxconn and Apple’s other major supplier, Pegatron, were at the advanced stages of preparation to start manufacturing the iPhone 7.
Interestingly, Economic News Daily also reported that both Foxconn and Pegatron had commenced their hiring process at least a month earlier than is usual for iPhone manufacture, with it being the first time in 2 years that Foxconn had started hiring for iPhone workers in May.
Economic Daily News said that Foxconn and Pegatron were starting earlier because of the added complexity of the design of the iPhone 7 in comparison with previous models, with assembling staff in particular requiring more training.
