iPhone charging

Is it true that a brand new iPhone, regardless of its generation, charges at a much faster rate compared to an old one? Why is this so?

yes I have found this to be true.
im assuming because the battery Is brand new and the battery wears down as u use it

Or could be the charger ... i remember nokia did something the same
