AppleInsider reports today that analysts are predicting that thanks to the success of the white iPhone 4, particularly in Asia, iPhone sales in the June quarter should still break even with iPhone sales from the quarter before, achieving a sizeable year on year increase despite a new iPhone not being released in this period.
According to analyst Brian White from Ticonderoga Securities, his sources in Taipei, who he visited this week, have said that iPhone 4 shipments to Apple have flattened out quarter over quarter, which is a much better outcome than the 15 percent drop that he had expected. If the June quarters iPhone shipments remain similar to the March quarters 18.65 million figure, this would be a huge improvement on last Junes figure of 8.4 million iPhones sold.
White said that production of some components for the next iPhone would start in July, with volume production kicking off in August, ready for the launch of the new phone in September 2011.
