With day-one pre-orders of almost one million, the Apple Watch is shaping up to be Apple’s latest smash hit, and according to AppleInsider, it may well be Apple’s most successful new device launch ever, with five million unit sales predicted for the June quarter.
RBC analyst Amit Daryanani made the prediction in a note to investors on Monday, saying that the strong demand for the watch that has been indicated by the huge pre-order numbers should turn into spectacular sales.
Daryanani has forecasted that Apple will sell between three million and five million units in the June quarter. As far as the first year sales are concerned, Daryanani thinks that Apple will sell between 15 million and 20 million units, which he says would be “very impressive” for a first-generation launch.
As far as supply is concerned, Daryanani said that the fact that lead times for new orders have not altered significantly since pre-orders began last Friday indicates that Apple will have no problems keeping up with demand over the next few months.
