This week just happens to be five years since the launch of the first ever iPhone, on June 29, 2007, and AppleInsider reports that according to Strategy Analytics new figures that they have just released today, Apple has shipped 250 million iPhones since then worldwide, making $150 billion in cumulative revenues.
The iPhone portfolio has become a huge generator of cash and profit for Apple, Neil Mawston, executive director at Strategy Analytics, told AppleInsider, adding, Apple reaches its fifth birthday at the top of its game.
Mawston is a little more cautious in his assessments of Apples future as far as the iPhone is concerned, however, saying that increased competition and concerns over big subsidies for iPhone from some mobile carriers might mean that Apple doesnt have it all its own way. AppleInsider notes that for the moment, though, the iPhone is so popular that Apple sells more of the device than there are babies born in the world!
