Iphone not transfering messages/notes

hey guys i just got an iphone5 i went to sync all my stuff from my iphone 4s to my 5 and none of my messages notes, voice messages, or settings transferred is there a setting i'm missing because i have some very very important voice memos, messages, and notes that i really need to keep. i know when i got my 4s i just synced and everything changed over with out issue

Just to clarify... you've restored your iP5 to the backup created from your 4S, correct?
