iPhone tethering

Hi I want to use my iPhone as a modem because I want to connect my tv to the Internet but I don't have a wireless adapter for my tv if I use tethering is there anyway I can make it use my iPhones wifi instead of my 3G because my iPhone is connected to wifi.thanks for the help
