iPhone update help

Hey guys, I've never updated my iPhone4 since I got it, I still have the 4.0 firmware. So I was wondering can I update to any version I want or will iTunes give me an error message and force me to update to 4.3.5?

At this point you will have to go to the current version 4.3.5, unless you was jailbrake and you been saving your SHSH Blobs.

I do have my current version jailbreaked. Where do I go from there?
