The fact that the iTunes does not stream any video other than MP4, MOV and M4V may disappoint new iPhone 5 users.
If you have third-party streaming media server like AirVideo installed, it is also possible to stream MKV and AVI videos to iPhone 5.

But none current media streamer work with DVD ISO file. Convert DVD ISO to MP4? Well iPhone 5 Video Converter does a good job converting MKV, WMV, TS, MTS and many other HD videos, but it can't cope with DVD ISO conversion.

For those who have DVD movies to stream with iTunes or AirPlay, a DVD to iPhone 5 Ripper is what you need. With the app you may crack the DVD copy-protections and convert DVD video (mostly MPEG-2 encoded .VOB) into streaming media format H.264 .MP4.

A guide for converting DVD/DVD ISO to iPhone 5 streaming media format

Step 1. Run the DVD to iPhone 5 ripper, load DVD/DVD ISO file to the software.
Step 2. Select the main movie and then set desired audio& subtitles language.
Step 3. Select iPhone 5 video format from the drop-down profile list of “Format” bar.
Step 4. Press the big Convert button to start ripping DVD to iPhone 5 playable videos.

How to customize video quality and file size
The default presets works fine on iPhone 5, but you may want to custom the file size and video quality based on your iPhone 5 models. To adjust output file size/quality, press “Settings” button. In the Settings window, there are video and audio parameters.

To improve video quality, set a higher video bitrate.
To change maximum the iPad 5 screen resolution, set video size to 1920x1080.

To down-size/compress the movie, set smaller video bitrate (1500kbps for iPhone 16GB).

FYI: Best video formats for iPhone 5 to play

When DVD ISO movie is converted into H.264 video, you can add the movie to iTunes library and then stream to/sync to iPhone 5.

Great post! I have had success with the Pavtube Bluray Ripper (www.pavtube.com/blu-ray-ripper/) to convert Blu-ray and DVD discs to a format played by the iPad 3 and iTunes. I have found the quality to be excellent, and see no difference compared with playing discs themselves. Keep up good job!
