jailbreak/unlocking iphone 3gs

Hi all i`m new to all this jailbreaking etc.. i`ve just got an iphone 3gs on orange and need it on o2 its ios5.0.1 firmware 05.16.05 and have been trying to downgrade to ios4.1 ive managed to install cydia and change the firmware and ios but have now lost wifi on my iphone so cannot open cydia please help

i have tried everything i can think of snowbreeze limerain redsn0w etc all i get is either the apple logo the itunes/usb logo or when it runs jailbreak i get error it wont restore on itunes i keep getting errors any help would be gratefully received
