Can an iPhone 4.2.1 3gs be jail-broken by spirit or blackrain or another

4.2.1 is redsnow for all devices. Depending on which bootrom you have it may be untethered...

I may give that a try but i was thinking of trying LIMERAIN 1st if works. I know when i had my previous iPhone i used Spirit it worked out great for me but this phone i am buying now has the 4.2.1. saids previous owner, i should have in a few days in the mail now

and then i will be using it as a prepaid.

now i am looking for how to be able to get 3g data with the go phone sims card in it

If it's on 4.2.1 limerain won't work. That's for 4.1...

but can a i phone user use go phone sims and somehow be able to use #g data if i buy the data plan per month

It depends if it has SHSH's saved for 4.1. You can find out after you jailbreak it. Downgrading wont affect the ability to unlock it. If it's on 4.2.1 you won't be able to use any network you like. When you say go phone sims, is that a network or just pay as you go...?

that is a pay as you go Sims card i am using so so i know i wont be able to get 3g unless i can make some kind of change but what i don't know
i wil be buying 3g data monthly no on a contract

As long as your using the same network as the phone is locked to it shouldn't be a problem. The network should give you the settings you need or you can find most network settings on the Internet...
