Very good! I watched it when it first came out back in 1978. I also saw the special edition release.
The combination Spielberg - Williams is excellent.
The movie is scary when you see it for the first time, especially at the beginning. The more often you watch it, the more details you find you missed the last time.

I watched this movie last night.
It features Gene Kelly in a rare dramatic role and Dick York who is better known for his role in Bewitched. Spencer Tracy is always a treat, especially in his role in this movie where he plays Henry Drummond, a character based on Clarence Darrow, the defence attorney in the Scopes trial.

I was watching this yesterday.
There's a lot of science in that movie, which made it fascinating for me. Cooper Station at the end reminded me of Clarke's "Rendezvous with Rama". Although it lasts for more than 150 minutes, it seemed to be over in a hurry. I'll have to rewatch it, because I certainly didn't get everything at first.
