Lost contact picture

My iphone 4 was replaced at the apple store yesterday and all pictures were lost, not backed up. The only remaining photos were those that had been set in the contacts list which the "genius" backed up in icloud before deactivating the old phone. I have replaced one of these contact photos with a new picture and would like to change back to the original one. It wasn't in the camera roll as it was empty, can I recover the old contact picture?

The contact pictures are linked to your contacts....load the contacts(on iCloud) onto your new iPhone:iphone4vert:

Unfortunately only the contacts were in icloud, is there any other way?
