Mail Folder Icon

Have updated the software on my iPhone4 to IOS7.0.2 but now the e-mail folder icon is showing that I have 1,268 e-mails! I actually have 13. Have emptied the send and trash folders but still shows 1268 e-mails. How can I clear so that only new incoming e-mails show?
