Microsoft’s OneNote app already features Office Lens scanning capabilities, but the newly released app works on its own without need for OneNote. You can use the app to scan business cards, notes, menus, and so on.
The app has the ability to detect a document’s corners when it is being photographed, so that it can then automatically crop the image to the correct size. It will also clean up the image and enhance it, and also straighten it if needs be.
The app also features optical character recognition (OCR), so that you can search for scanned documents using key words in OneNote or OneDrive. It can also convert document images into Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and PDFs.
Further, on scanning business cards, the app can also automatically generate contacts, and insert the images into OneNote or OneDrive in a variety of different formats, such as DOCX, PPTX, JPG, and PDF.
