According to new figures from mobile analytics firm Flurry, Apple devices made up more than half of new mobile device activations worldwide over the holiday period, with 51.3 percent, reports MacRumors.
With data from more than 600,000 tracked apps in the period between December 19 and December 25 2014, Flurry found that Samsung trailed a long way behind leader Apple, with almost 18 percent of activations. After that came Nokia, with nearly 6 percent.
The likes of Xiaomi, Huawei, and HTC had less than 1 percent of activations. Flurry puts this down to the fact that phones from these three manufacturers tend to be more popular in Asian markets, where Christmas gift-giving is nowhere near as popular as it is in other countries in the rest of the world.
Flurry noted that the number of app installs more than doubled in comparison to the first couple of weeks in December, with games and messaging apps proving to be most popular on December 25.
