Mute during call

Hi before I begin I'm not jail broke and I'm on the iphone 4 4.3.5.
Ok when I answer my phone it comes up with a option bar which is in the middle as per this pic top left one. As I have to answer my phone into my right ear I find my cheek hits this mute button every time and they either hang up or I have to unmute it. Which can be a pain. Is there anyway to change what you want to pop up during the call? Like maybe the keypad instead? Reason for answering in my right ear is I'm deaf in the left one so it'd sound muted anyway ha ha. Any ideas guys?

Do you have a case? That could be interfering with your sensor

Remove the screen plastic protector and reboot your device.

I have a screen protector yes. Is it that then?

I can't say for sure if it's the screen protector doing it, but in many cases it was the screen protector, so it's your call to try removing it and see it the issue is gone or not, but my guess is the screen protector.
