Need a way to fix my Apple Keyboard

Recently I used Google Docs to type an essay, what started happening was when I would type “their” I would then click space and it would change it to “they’re.” Had to have a friend get on his phone, share the doc with him, and then have him edit it. Don’t want to have to do this every time. Anyway to fix this?

Yes if you’ll go to settings and then keyboards you can turn off auto correction. This should do the trick

That's true. You could also delete the word and type it in again. It might take several tries but the AutoCorrect would learn the new spelling.

I've found it is quicker to backspace the minimum letters and correct the word. Seems to only take the one time to get it to take.
