I bought an iphone 4 at&t from a friend..Camera doesnt work, gonna go to apple store tomorrow..phone has valid purchase date..no tech support or warranty, both expired.... any idea what apple will do for me ? will they fix it and charge me, how much ? Thank you............

What about the camera doesn't work? The app doesn't open? The shutter doesn't work? You might find answers here. Have you tried a hard reset? Hold the power button and the round home button down at the same time until the apple logo appears (ignore the power off slider when it appears). then let go and let it reboot, which takes several more seconds.
I will turn phone on, slide up camera and the shutter stays closed....Then "slide to unlock" press camera app icon and have same issue. Also had a black screen, press camera button ( to take a pic ) and that pic would show up but cant see what your taking a picture of.if that makes sense....The camera works fine at times but not 100% of the time....Had a friend do a hard reset and having same issues.....

I doubt your friend did a hard reset as I described. They probably did a restore or reset all their settings which is different.

That is the only way to verify the Camera truly doesn't work. Plus...the Apple guys will do that when you bring it in anyway...unless you do it before bringing it in.
And since you are out of warranty...they will charge you $200-$300 for a replacement iPhone. Of coarse depending on what GB it is.
I believe is what happened was..Friend bought an iphone with a contract with at&t ( phone 1 )then had that phone replaced ( the one I bought ) phone 2... which had the defective camera issue, then paid the $150 and received the new phone.. 16GB.
