If you let the iPhone sit, it should exit recovery mode on its own after 15 minutes unless something else is wrong.

I guess it's out of recovery, it has that connect to iTunes screen now, I just thought tiny umbrella can bring it to life. I've tried everything and ready to put it away for a while in that state and just get another device.

If you can, get RedSn0w 0.9.15 beta 1 or 3. Then attempt to PWNED DFU the iPad, then restore to a stock 5.1.1 IPSW using RedSn0w, not iTunes. This would bypass any softlocks that you may have on your iPad that could be barring you from restoring.
