New at all this and need help

Hey everyone i just recently got my iphone 4s and jailbroke it
but to be honest im new to all this i dont know much about cydia still
dont mind me if i ask to many questions just want my iphone to be right

First question though ..
sometimes i try to install a source or package and i get yellow and red words coming up while installing like..
GPG error: http//:cydia.winterboarder.com
failed to fetch
404 Page Not Found

or

Duplicate sources

and then it says
you may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems?

i dont understand this for starters?

could anyone help please?

You will be seeing quite a few errors until I would say late-mid or the end of February since Evasi0n was just released. There will be plenty of server errors, hash mismatches, 404s, 500s, HTTP/1s etc etc for the time being.

Q: I'm getting errors in Cydia (Http://1, 404, 500, Size Mismatch, NetDB), is my iDevice completely destroyed beyond recognition?

A: No, the servers are being overloaded with millions of requests a second. This. Is. Normal. If you can open up Cydia, that means your device is jailbroken and is fine.
