Various supposed iPhone 8 images leaked over the weekend, reports AppleInsider. The images first appeared on Chinese microblogging website Weibo, and show a display assembly, flex cables, and a Lightning connector, all said to be from the forthcoming iPhone 8.
The display assembly looks very similar to the various other leaked dummies and components that have been appearing lately, revealing the extra thin bezels and cut-out “notch” at the top of the phone.
Meanwhile, in another story on AppleInsider today, Rosenblatt Securities analyst Jun Zhang wrote in a memo that, as expected, Apple will not be including a fingerprint sensor in the forthcoming iPhone 8 because of low yield rates, and that because of this, iPhone 8 OLED mass production will actually begin a week earlier than expected, in the third week of September.
Zhang predicts that there will be no more than 5 million iPhone 8 units available in the September quarter, rising to between 30 to 35 million iPhone 8 units in the December quarter.
