According to a new report on iLounge, as noted by Boy Genius Report, the next iPhone will be released this Fall, and will, as has recently been speculated, be the first iPhone to have a wider display 4-inches wide, to be exact. iLounges Jeremy Horowitz also says that the next iPhone will be taller and 20% slimmer than the iPhone 4S, and will have a metal panel on the back, although the whole back of the phone will not be metal. The news story also backs up previous reports that Apple is working on smaller dock connectors for its devices, saying that the new iPhone will have a thinner and smaller dock connector, possibly because the phone itself will now be so much thinner. Its possible that the new iPhone will be so thin that it will not have room for a headphone jack, with the user having to use either Bluetooth or AirPlay to listen to their music, something, should it occur, that is not likely to be very popular with those who like to listen to music on their iPhone through wired headphones.
