Information coming from reliable publications like the New York Times Bits blog and the Wall Street Journal reports that Apple is cooking in its developing labs something really interesting a smart watch. Anonymous sources that leaked the information add another exciting detail the tech giant is apparently experimenting with curved glass in order to assemble the gizmo.
The report doesnt specify what properties the watch will feature, except that it will probably run the iOS platform. Even so, it might be safe to speculate at this point that the glass in question is provided by Corning. In 2012, Corning, known as the developer of the Gorilla Glass thats used in the making of iPhones, has announced that it cracked the engineering puzzle related to creating bendable glass. The technology has been called Willow Glass.
The device has been dubbed iWatch in tech circles and it seems that the Cupertino giant wants to be the first to release a device featuring bending glass which sounds like something Apple would do.
Judging by the popularity of the Pebble smartwatch project, theres apparently some demand in the field of high-end intelligent watches. A capable watch such as this might be able to relay texts and emails to your wrist, while also monitoring your vital signs in the process like heart rate or blood levels.
An update to the Wall Street Journal reports states that discussions targeting the iWatch have already started with Asian manufacturer Foxconn.
