New to iPhone quick question

Hello all I've just switched from a blackberry torch to a iPhone 3GS I'm getting the hang off it though at first it was
Greek to me. Funny thing I've noticed is how many apps on blackberrys app world are standard on the iPhone. Anyway my question is does anyone know if you can use a clip from a soundboard as a alert tone?

Regarding sounds for text alert - a mp3 file can be converted to a relevant tone if you do so in iTunes and make the sound clip 30 seconds or less.
