If I DID have two iOS devices (which I don't), I would keep one on 5.5.1 and upgrade the other one to 6.0.

My thoughts entirely. And as a mod on both forums, I'd like to be able to answer questions on both versions of the OS. So chances are I'll leave the 4 alone and continue to use it as is, even when it becomes an iPod at the end of the contract period.
