No alerts for new mail on springboard icon.

hey all. In the last week, my 4s 5.0.1 has stopped showing me how many unread/new emails are in my inbox. It's a real hassle to have to open the app and check my mailboxes manually. I'm afraid that I might miss a time sensitive email. Any ideas on what to do?

Check Settings> Notifications> Mail> toggle on the icon badge.
