Official IOS 7 thread.

I'm getting really frustrated with the calendar app. Setting an appointment is insane. The time and date settings are so small I can barely change it. No list view by default, you have to select the search magnifier to show a list and it won't stay after exiting. And nothing shows under calendar on the notification screen until the first event is due, then it will show the next one on the timeline...Sometimes...sometimes it doesn't. Very buggy. I haven't had any issues with the email app except for sometimes forgetting to swipe the opposite way I've been used to for years so I can delete a message. I use an Exchange account, two gmail accounts and two privately owned domain accounts. All seem to work fine. The colors in the stock apps and the frosty colors are getting really old quick, pretty much makes me sick using it trying to read light gray text on a white background. Maybe it's an age thing, I suppose if I were 20-30 years younger I'd think it was rad, but at nearly 50, it sucks... One thing I was thinking, if Apple really wants iOS 7 to look and feel like the Android/Win8 GUI, why didn't they add notification icons in the title bar too?
I understand your frustration. I had to download a different calendar app coz I couldn't make the stock one work either.
As for white/gray background, try SETTINGS/GENERAL/ACCESSABILITY and tap BOLD print. Then settings/general/text size and pick which you are comfortable with.
Sorry for the caps, spell check etc still a work in progress 😊

This icon showed up (4S) after installing IOS7. Doesn't open and can't delete it. Any ideas? Cheers! <img src="http://www.iphoneforums.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=13656"/>
This is a space where an app will go if and when it downloads. Double tap home button and swipe up on the pic that appears and it should go away.

I ordered my 5s today. Delivery is expected in about a month. I told the Verizon rep I liked the phone but not a huge fan of the new iOS7. His quick reply was "Nobody is". ;)

I agree - trying to read light gray text on white is bad..that's why I changed my wallpaper! Many choices - darker colors - better reading - better looking icons. etc. Try it, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Ordered my i5s last friday when available - arrived Monday! Now I have been familiarizing myself with the device (was already using iOS 7 on my i4s) and am liking it alot! Haven't noticed ant degrading of battery life - still 40+ hrs of standby.

Just have to give the camera a good workout now!

I have 1 complaint about iOS 7 with my 4S, when I send a text message I can't see if the person has received it or if they are in the process of texting back ( the three periods), like I could before upgrade, I know if you swipe left you can see when the message was sent but that is it. My wife and I text a lot and this is a bummer.
Is there a setting I'm missing? We do have iMessages off because after the upgrade imessages defaulted to my wife's phone and I wasn't sure what that meant.

You have to have iMessage on for it to work and for you to see the "three periods". Check your "Received at" info to make sure your phone number is checked and hers likewise. I added an email account a few months ago and all of a sudden iMessage started going out as that address rather than my contact number. I had to change it back.

Will that work with both of us on the same iTunes account, using the same email on that account? I know nothing about the iMessage feature.

Will that Received at info be available after we switch iMessage back on? I will have to do this later when both phones are available to me.

Use your phone number for the "send and receive" for iMessage. If you have your email as your iTunes ID and it is what is checked for iMessage, than yes, it will use the same Apple account (if you only have the one ID)

If you have your email checked for iMessage then your contacts will receive messages from "[email protected]", rather than your contact name as they have it assosiated with your phone number.

So I was reading through this article, and came across this sentence (referring to lockscreen):

"If you pull up on the camera icon and then slam it down hard enough, Broderick points out, you can bounce your lock screen up and out of sight as if you had thrown a tennis ball into the ground."

Lo and behold, it does just that and unlocks to the camera anyway... just thought it was interesting / funny / whatever... :)

I'll BE!!!!!!

Never even thought to try that. Too funny.

Actually here's the article again (so newcomers can see the title):

iOS 7 apps are prettier, but are they better? | The Verge

It ended up being really interesting, IMHO anyway. I'm still not a huge fan of the look of some of the icons, but have found the feel and "flow" of the OS incredibly addictive after getting used to it. My wife's still on 6, so it's a good quick comparison when I pick hers up to use it.

And whether totally true or not, it's nice to hear there was more intention behind some of the changes than critics gave them credit for.
