This happened with my wife's phone. It cutoff at 20% every time. It ended being all the "other" storage on her phone that you see in the bar at the bottom of iTunes. This included all of her text messages with attachments as well as emails, app storage etc. All this stuff stores on your phone over time. I reset the phone back to factory settings and set her email back up and had to download her apps again, but it fixed her battery problem right away.

Same problem I habe. My iPhone is 6 month old. Here is a video. Is this the same thing you are all talking about here?

at work so i cant watch the youtube video. but if its of your phone just turning off @ over 5% then yes.
last night my phone turned off at 4%.

left my work place w/ 25% battery
played music and texting gf at around 20%. phone turns off. takes a bit, but turns back on w/ 18%. was trying to send a text and ut autoshuts off. takes a bit to turn back on, turns on at 12%. try to send a text, and dies again. this time i couldnt get it back on till i plugged it in, which starts me off at 6%
