It may well have only been out a day (and still not out yet in some countries) but Pokémon Go is already proving to be a monster hit, as well as creating much hilarity, many memes, and a fair degree of mayhem!
In particular, The Verge reports that a police station in Northern Territory in Australia had to take the unusual step of posting a notice on their Facebook page telling Pokémon Go players to be careful when trying to catch a Sandshrew at the Darwin Police Station, where it is appearing.
Thankfully they seem to have a sense of humour about a load of Pokémon Go players turning up at their police station to try and catch a Pokémon, saying “Whilst the Darwin Police Station may feature as a Pokestop, please be advised that you don’t actually have to step inside in order to gain the pokeballs. It’s also a good idea to look up, away from your phone and both ways before crossing the street. That Sandshrew isn’t going anywhere fast. Stay safe and catch ‘em all!”
Wise, and kind, words indeed from the Darwin police.
USA Today also reports on the PokéPandemonium, with lots of examples of some of the many, many images of bizarre places that people are finding Pokémon in their part of the world, along with some hilarious captions. And no, trying to catch a Pokémon while you’re driving is not a good idea!

This is why people won't shut up about 'Pokemon Go'
