Poor reception, no service

The new phone didn't solve my reception problems. Apple has done there thing, Verizon tried the same thing. Is it possible it's just software issues or something I have on it? I'm downloading the latest update right now to see if it helps.
Can I erase the phone and use it just as it comes from Apple without my Apple ID just to see if it helps? IS that even an option?

Hopefully the iOS 8.1 solves the issue for you. I have no problems with my 6+ thru Verizon using 8.1. I purchased my phone on October 24 at an apple store and did the OS upgrade while I was there. 8.0 was on the phone prior to the upgrade.
