Were just a few short hours away from Steve Jobs keynote speech at Apples WWDC where he will launch iOS 5, iCloud and Mac OS X Lion. Everyones feverishly trying to imagine exactly what will be revealed today after the months of rampant speculation, but TechCrunch goes one step further, having obtained what looks to be a genuine picture of an iPhone running iOS 5, complete with the fully integrated Twitter notification bar at the top of the screen. Much of the recent talk about iOS 5 has been about how it will have deep Twitter integration out of the box.
TechCrunch initially said it had no idea if the image was real or just a clever mock up, but has since updated its story to say that it has heard that the picture has the right idea, which is one way of saying it could be the real deal. TechCrunch also gives several further clues as to why the picture could be real, including the fact that the camera icon is different, and that the app icons are laid out in the regular default configuration. No way of knowing for sure until Steve Jobs steps up to speak this morning in California, but I definitely get a good feeling about that Twitter notification bar.
