I've noticed that when I'm out of signal or wifi range there is no detailed mapping available unless I've allready looked at those maps when in wifi range and the phone presumably saves the data in the cache.
How long does the mapping stay in the cache? Can I guarantee that, for example, in a few weeks time can I look at the maps again (I need to zoom in for maximum detail and zoom out for the bigger picture) even though there's no wifi or phone signal?
Does the cache automatically empty itself? I ask this because my various forum username/passwords disappear. They last for a while, several days or so, and then randomly disappear. I have passwords auto fill switched on and don't do anything to make them disappear.
I don't particularly want to get rid of Google maps as it is generally so fast and efficient.
I have an iphone 4 running ios5 (I don't dare to upgrade yet given all the bad press).
