Problems Activating iphone4

Hello to all,
I have just registered on this site and look forward to an informative experience here.
OK, I recently bought a iphone4 for my daughter, (it is second hand) we proceeded to activate it and found we couldnt do it because the person hasnt deactivated their itunes account that is connected to this phone, we have tried to contact this person to fix the problem but have been given excuses, basically told to bug**r off.
is there a way around this, or have i got an expensive paper weight.

Sorry, but unless you can get the original owner to de-activate their account - yes, you have "an expensive paperweight."

So, I'd keep trying that person...
