Engadget reports today on a very interesting story from Digitimes regarding details that are emerging about component manufacturers for the white iPhone 5. Yes, it would seem as if white iPhones are like buses: you wait for ages for one to come along, and then two come along at once! Well, not quite at once, but nearly! The white iPhone 4 is currently scheduled for a spring release, with the iPhone 5 likely to be launched in the summer. According to the report on DigiTimes, the white iPhone 5 will have a touch panel made exclusively by Wintek. One very interesting nugget of information in DigiTimes report is that Wintek will be the sole touch panel supplier for the white iPhone 5, and will possibly be replacing TPK Touch Solutions as the main touch panel supplier worldwide in 2011 because, in the words of DigiTimes, Apple plans to focus on white models for the iPhone 5, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News report. If that report is correct, it would seem that the white iPhone 5 will be the main model marketed by Apple, not the black version.
