Restoring 4.2.1 after jailbreak

Restoring 4.2.1 after jailbreak

Need more info really. I probably can't help as I'm not at all an expert but if anyone is going to help you'll need to explain more fully. Do you mean you have just jailbroken your phone and it immediately lost Internet connection? You need to say what jailbreak, any apps or tweaks you have installed. Don't panic. If the worst comes to worst you can still connect to iTunes and restore to current firmware. Don't do this too hastily tho cos it will mean you can't have untethered jailbreak anymore. Check your network settings etc. I installed "auto3g" which is meant to save battery by disconnecting 3G when screen locks. But it kept cutting off Internet randomly. As I say I'm not an expert but if you give more detail someone might help

How do I save firmware 4.2.8 to my computer or Cydia. Jailbreak me did great job on my Verizon 4. Want to make sure I can reload firmware if a restore is needed. What is tiny umbrella and Ifaith? What are shsh blobs? What is the best way to save my firmware?

The easiest way IMO is iSHSHit. You can download it from cydia for free. It saves your firmware and you can email it to yourself for a back up.

Edit: you need to email it to yourself so you'll have the back up

SHSH blobs are the signed files that iTunes checks when restoring a firmware to make sure that the firmware is being signed. If it not being signed you will get a 3194 error when trying to restore. By saving the SHSH files locally or to Saurik's server, you can use TinyUmbrella to bypass the activation servers allowing you to downgrade your firmware at a later date.

Unfortunately, 4.2.8 is no longer being signed so you will not be able to save it using any of the SHSH tools. However, if you are currently on 4.2.8 you can dump the SHSH using iFaith.
