AppleInsider’s source, which is said to be a reliable one, says that the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus RAM will be upgraded from 1GB to 2GB. This could mean that background tasks and Safari tabs can be open for longer without needing to reload or refresh, although extra RAM could also be a big drain on battery power.
The source also said that Apple is planning on shipping the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus with a pre-installed Apple SIM. This would enable the user to sign up for mobile data plans right from the Settings app, and to change providers whenever you like.
Phone carriers are not likely to be too happy about such a move by Apple, and have scuppered similar previous plans, and even those that went along with the iPad Air 2’s Apple SIM put conditions on its use, with Verizon refusing to even be involved.
