My question is with SBsettings there is a 3G toggle and a data toggle. What is the difference? Dumb question I'm sure but I'd like to know all the same

3G is data, same as 2G, the toggle there is a shortcut to turn ON or OFF 3G data meaning that once you turn off 3G, you will still be able to send receive SMS over 2G, and if you have EDGE/GPRS on then you will also be able to browse on safari but with relatively slow Internet speed compare to 3G.

I have an EDGE toggle and a 3G toggle. So if I only have EDGE on then it's just not as fast. Will it automatically toggle on/off 3G when an app needs it or will it not since I have the SBsettings? If I delete that toggle will it turn on 3G on/off automatically?

if you say that you've toggle it to 2g then i don't think that it will automatically switch back to 3g when an app need 3g connection, instead, that app will not work or it will take time before working since 2g speed is slower than 3g.
If you delete the SBSettings, i think that the network settings will revert back to default which is 3G if available or 2G if there is no 3G signals.
