I had done several ipod 4 screen replacements and just did one on a Iphone 3g and have 2 issues that arose.
1) There was a piece that feel out of the case when my daughter picked up the case with motherboard to check it out.
The small piece has 2 tiny coil springs mounted on a small black plastic mount.
I spent over 3 hours looking at diagrams and internal pictures online but I could not find even a reference to the piece.
2) Finally, in desperation, I put it all back together minus the item above, turned it on, and now the lower half of the screen is whited out and the upper half is fine. It also appears that functionally, it is working. I suspect that the screen issue is unrelated to the mistery piece.
Any insite into the mystery item and possible cause of the 1/2 white screen would much appreciated.
