Following on from yesterdays iMore scoop that Apple would be holding a special event on September 12 to launch the next iPhone, and possibly the iPad mini and iPod nano, the always excellently sourced John Paczkowski at AllThingsD writes that he has confirmed with his sources that Apple is indeed planning a special event for the week of September 9, with the actual day of the event most likely to be Wednesday September 12. Paczkowski says that although he has not yet determined the reason for the event, he believes that it will be for the next iPhone. What he can confirm, however, is that Apple is getting ready for a big production push in the fall, and he provides a graph of Apples inventory components prepayments as evidence of this. According to the figures from Apples 10-Q filing, its prepayments for inventory components rose by $1.15 billion in the June quarter, which is Apples highest prepayment level for four years.
